The demand for smaller and lighter product assemblies is driving the continued miniaturization of almost every electronic system, with connector manufacturers developing miniature connectors that take up less space yet perform the same as their larger counterparts. There is particular demand for these innovations in the Mil/Aero and motorsport market sectors, areas where we are particularly active.
The green electric vehicle (EV) revolution is all over the front pages right now as manufacturers announce new vehicles, as well as plans to replace the current polluting models in time for the deadlines set by their country. At Lane Motorsport we have been supplying connector solutions to support the EV revolution in motorsport for several years now.
As well as provide a wide range of standard QPL connectors from Souriau's 8D Series for same-day dispatch, we can also specify a much wider choice of supply from our massive connector piece parts inventory, with delivery on short lead times and the same full QPL Certification at no extra cost.
For more than 50 years, we’ve been providing high performance connector solutions to every market sector where the application or the environment places huge demands on the integrity of the connection, and nowhere is this better illustrated than in motorsport, an industry sector renowned for its rapid pace of development and for the demands it places on its supply chain.
Back in September last year, we announced Larissa Schläfli as our new business development manager with particular responsibility for interconnection solutions for customers across the aerospace and defence industry.
The Souriau microComp® series of high-density rectangular connectors are lighter than micro-D and standard D-subminiature connectors which makes them ideal for a wide range of high-reliability applications where space and weight considerations are paramount.
For another year, Lane Motorsport, our motorsport division, will be exhibiting at the Professional Motorsport World Expo in Cologne from November 13th to 15th. It’s the leading event for motorsport teams, racing car engineers, designers and drivers.
In the motorsport market electronics are increasingly being used, while at the same time space and weight constraints are becoming more and more important, with dependability an additional must. It's for this reason that the Souriau 8STA series are so highly coveted. The 8STA series are miniature circular connectors designed to be smaller and lighter with high-reliability features that ensure race performance and driver safety.
We are so happy to announce that another one of our sponsored student racing car teams, HyTech Racing, came first in their latest race. HyTech, who are student-run, were competing in the United States at the Georgia Institute of Technology (better known as Georgia Tech). They entered the Formula Hybrid challenge as defending champions, and came out victorious once more, placing first in the Electric Only class.
As a Souriau-approved assembler, Lane are able to provide a wide variety of high density circular connectors, with many meeting the requirements of the MIL-DTL-38999 standard, and others being derived from that standard. In particular, we have available Souriau’s standard high density 8D/38999 connectors and their 8STA range which is widely used throughout all forms of motorsport and other applications where space, weight and environmental protection are crucial.
2018 was an eventful year for LUMotorsport, Loughborough University's formula student team. In the attached newsletter you can find out exactly how the 2018 season panned out, as well as found out what the LUMotorsport team has planned for the coming 2019 season.
Our Motorsport division have now made available Souriau 8STA high power circular connectors which are designed for specific applications where high performance, small size and light weight are key factors, such as the motorsport sector.
We can now supply from stock a comprehensive portfolio of Souriau 8D/38999 connectors, derivatives and accessories.
We have now launched a new fibre optic assembly facility which will handle the significant increase in demand for high performance fibre-based interconnection solutions that we have been experiencing. As well as fibre-optic patch cords and jump leads the new 1300ft² facility will also be equipped to help customers with their specific fibre optic connector assembly designs.
This season's first event at Donington was declared "a great success" by our sponsored rider, Sam Osborne. After an excellent early season practice and with some key modifications to his Suzuki, including the addition of suspension components by the leading Italian manufacturer Mupo, Sam was confident that he could compete on equal terms with the leading riders in the field at the season's opening race day.
We would like to announce that customers can now specify and purchase an increasingly wide selection of 8D Series / MIL-DTL-38999 connectors and accessories from our online store at www.fclane.com/store.
Ultra-miniature 8STA circular connectors as well as a range of ultra-lightweight size 01 8STA compatible accessories are now available from our online store.
Significant investment in our tooling and inventory levels will ensure that customers for Souriau’s 8STA High Density (HD) Series of circular connectors will soon not have to wait for prototypes and small quantities beyond a few days.
Lane Motorsport, a division of electrical and electronic connector specialist Lane Electronics, has made available hermetically sealed versions of Souriau’s high performance 8STA circular connectors.
Many specifiers and buyers of 8D Series/38999 compliant circular connectors often require standard, off-the-shelf products and generally ask for delivery by return. According to Simon Hammerton, Managing Director at Lane Electronics, a lot of customers will often need a “special” for their application and they have also come to expect a quick turnaround.
We at Lane Motorsport have made a significant addition to the range of accessories we offer specifically for use with the recently introduced ultra-miniature, high performance Size 01 8STA connectors produced by Souriau.
As we've reported before, each year LU Motorsport (Loughborough University Motorsport) develops, builds, tests and races a new single seat race car. From CAD to test circuit, these vehicles are designed from a blank sheet of paper, with the knowledge and expertise from over a decade of racing experience.
