Deputy to the Quality Manager

REPORTING TO: QUALITY MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE: TO ASSIST AND DEPUTISE FOR THE QUALITY MANAGER WITH REGARDS TO ALL ASPECTS OF THE MANAGEMENT OF QUALITY CONTROL AND ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS OF F C LANE ELECTRONICS AND WEALD ELECTRONICS.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

To plan, schedule and execute the Company QMS Internal Audits including, where necessary, delegation of any process audits to ensure impartiality.
Maintenance of the approved supplier lists (Weald & Lane) ensuring third party approval certificates are up to date and valid. To generate the monthly supplier KPI results (quality and on-time performances).
To monitor, investigate and complete corrective actions for Weald supplier corrective actions following any piece part goods-in rejections.
To carry out Weald supplier audits when necessary.
To maintain a location list of all documented work instructions for Weald and Lane assembly and to assist the Quality Manager, when necessary, with creating new, and updating existing, documents.
To assist the Quality Manager with the investigations & closure of Customer Returns including 8D reporting.
To liaise with customers on quality-related matters, including complaints, investigations and corrective actions.
To complete compliance-based questionnaires for customers / suppliers / accreditations (e.g. RoHS, REACH, CMRT, EMRT, POPs, PFAS & PROP65).
The assist the Quality Manager with periodic BSI quality system audits and/or customer audits, when required.
To support risk-based thinking within the QMS and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
To support document control within the QMS, ensuring documents are reviewed, updated and correctly issued.
To manage and control internal non-conformances (NCRs), including segregation, investigation and disposition.
To maintain all aspects of the Company equipment calibration system. To arrange external calibrations with suppliers, carry out internal calibrations, monitor inspection intervals and results in K8 (asset management) and ensure up-to-date labelling of all equipment.
Monthly analysis & inspections of Weald piece part stock items approaching end of shelf life.
To monitor the locations of all thread gauges and arrange shipment / return of gauges to Weald suppliers when requested.
To carry out Goods In, in-process and final inspections for Weald and Lane Assembly when required.
To assist the Quality Manager with all onsite Health and Safety requirements when needed.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURS:

‘A’ level or equivalent education.
A strong working knowledge of ISO9001:2015 and EN9120:2018 essential.
Qualified ISO9001:2015 auditor.
Experience in the use and calibration of dimensional inspection equipment.
Experience from an electro-mechanical, manufacturing background preferred, (ideally electrical components).
Analytical approach to 8D investigations and reporting.
Knowledge of Health & Safety/environmental management systems/legal requirements preferred but not essential as training will be given.
A willingness to engage with all Company Departments to learn all QMS processes currently in place.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft.
Ability to prioritise workload with attention to detail.
